What a shame, especially that my parents were visiting and wanted to go there. If the anwser is yes, then head to Sharjah (Al Mamzar part of Sharjah. Go in Expo direction, then make U-turn on round about and then after a few meters turn right for the sea). The rate is about 120Dhs per 1 hour, and I think that's enough of riding/ driving/ splashing :-)Magda Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16891981835373419967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5976306768274863758.post-35773352077934462492009-10-05T14:46:00.003+04:002009-10-05T14:54:36.503+04:00Spoken Arabic Course at SMCCU<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4BzwAJ31P_kZAs2PxLUpZYjRXEF-zT3UUawz9ZvLWgSS0rdkEQUwGin65wzcRIg3B1XSPMXhjmg8Ba6MtdJ2Dl3MmrkEhRN2ff9UYI3cskg3AaewtGEhD8gdqE7tl1X9wV9TdrOiNxQo/s1600-h/SMCCU.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4BzwAJ31P_kZAs2PxLUpZYjRXEF-zT3UUawz9ZvLWgSS0rdkEQUwGin65wzcRIg3B1XSPMXhjmg8Ba6MtdJ2Dl3MmrkEhRN2ff9UYI3cskg3AaewtGEhD8gdqE7tl1X9wV9TdrOiNxQo/s320/SMCCU.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389066433015669506" /></a>Yesterday SMCCU announced new dates for Spoken Arabic Course. They all of course loved to see us again, but "why are you so pale? You are living in Dubai!" Yeap, right...<div>But the summer is almost over and we can start being outside in daylight without risking some "fainting" and heavy sweating, go to the beach, get some sun tan, sit in cafe outside.</div><div>Oh, cooler times! It was just before 2pm, but crowd was already there waiting for doors to be opened. Finally, short after 2pm we were let in. Some people have already bought the tickets, and there was a little stirr in cashiers' area, because people didn't know where to go, which ticket to buy, and of course bunch of people were trying to avoid queue...After some queuing we bought our red tickets and went to the platform. Metro station is very nice inside, quality of the fit out is very good as well, but what's missing is a little screen saying when the next train will arrive. Anyway, our metro car was quite empty at the time of boarding so we could sit and look around without people "hanging" above you, but on our trip back we weren't that lucky...<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTGfx0Kqm0dKtk8eWDI79x8pqhBDT8mYKVQWXaIXP8E_Z1W0fnrGbikBsV_pXLe6J4JKwoa5AUOb0FoQAYHcLGdqOy6ll2kPPPtK12wXraNUZHmt0iRLaUbnNEHF_YguNKeT45xRNHJ4/s1600-h/139metro.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTGfx0Kqm0dKtk8eWDI79x8pqhBDT8mYKVQWXaIXP8E_Z1W0fnrGbikBsV_pXLe6J4JKwoa5AUOb0FoQAYHcLGdqOy6ll2kPPPtK12wXraNUZHmt0iRLaUbnNEHF_YguNKeT45xRNHJ4/s320/139metro.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380877637747245666" /></a>...crowd was inside, crowd was outside waiting to get in. And some just gave up, because the metro cars were totaly full! Well, I think that in a short time the first curiosity will go away and then you can enjoy your quiet metro ride (at least on Fridays, I hope).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQGQnCbhzhKb1yohcIbvnEvBsxLk1UhyphenhyphendMNmjd-Yl7kQcB98hECK6DHP_CJxra7vWByErjxYCxUGwPLEdDZ6P68y8y9o4iPabd4DaAvnaH3XXEZ97S1FTx5Hcv1QqqbHYdorequWNhnk/s1600-h/139metro+walkway.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQGQnCbhzhKb1yohcIbvnEvBsxLk1UhyphenhyphendMNmjd-Yl7kQcB98hECK6DHP_CJxra7vWByErjxYCxUGwPLEdDZ6P68y8y9o4iPabd4DaAvnaH3XXEZ97S1FTx5Hcv1QqqbHYdorequWNhnk/s320/139metro+walkway.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380877539911029282" /></a>Our metro experience was positive and I hope that more and more people will favour this mean of transport. Few days ago I went to Madinat Jumeirah (last time I visited it maybe 4 months ago) and couldn't believe that it's so abandoned. Some tourist were hanging around souq streets, but restaurant weren't as full as usually. Hmm, I think that now, during summer and Ramadan the best thing I can do is to stay home, rent some DVDs or buy bunch of books and wait for better, cooler times.Magda Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16891981835373419967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5976306768274863758.post-74789261880594660052009-08-27T13:11:00.002+04:002009-08-27T13:18:12.387+04:00Dubai Metro<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizfjTrOU67ZDxb4ALG5SDpMXuSOacdnoOdxBzJDm8fvPXvbT6yK5O-XZs89uXLQCvGJwDgFyj5ZCjCpDRRMWt3CdttmGgQUZIaDm-I_XbJKrGEUcCFcmGN93c9fcGKmHwAk46NT40BytQ/s1600-h/130metro.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 244px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizfjTrOU67ZDxb4ALG5SDpMXuSOacdnoOdxBzJDm8fvPXvbT6yK5O-XZs89uXLQCvGJwDgFyj5ZCjCpDRRMWt3CdttmGgQUZIaDm-I_XbJKrGEUcCFcmGN93c9fcGKmHwAk46NT40BytQ/s320/130metro.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374568912219126530" /></a>Dubai Metro is said to be open on 09th September, so it's in another 2 weeks. Well, I hope that they'll manage to prepare everything for a big day, because now I can see that the stations are in different stages of completion. Anyway, I just can't wait for my first metro trip - it will be nice to see the city from the different angle.Magda Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16891981835373419967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5976306768274863758.post-12137629924046292172009-08-25T15:17:00.003+04:002009-08-25T15:23:01.756+04:00Kilim rug love<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhheoItYWswFq6fbwKcIPLDKeKEr64SH4wnhlzAIJMGmF8KU61IUtC1oBKLD_iTMAPftWSGWKrC7uo7YXEhIoPmWH9CsxyMddboOhTRN3-7GoeXYisOtflZw6lNqG6kPopyS2us54Op7-Q/s1600-h/129kilim+love.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhheoItYWswFq6fbwKcIPLDKeKEr64SH4wnhlzAIJMGmF8KU61IUtC1oBKLD_iTMAPftWSGWKrC7uo7YXEhIoPmWH9CsxyMddboOhTRN3-7GoeXYisOtflZw6lNqG6kPopyS2us54Op7-Q/s320/129kilim+love.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373859262244807202" /></a>I just can't help, but I adore kilim rugs. Shopping malls are changed completly - no music in the shops, all cafes and restaurants closed, very few people hanging around. Well, not surprising - it's time of fasting and praying for Muslim which will end around 19th September. Be patient and forgiving during this time.Magda Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16891981835373419967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5976306768274863758.post-82555509941792057492009-08-19T16:18:00.004+04:002009-08-19T16:38:13.212+04:00Kilim rug<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ee9S8jWQvFCxYvSktOE76sEWuEZ2EAu6kbSyI_09LrZNL7ZoKXK6NPIuONoTd7ZjgSYu6y29nmwpEi_9s29HoUebhjz6eAL-2cROQJbRvm57b1wa6YSCAGnE0prMZCqqZyT-AaeYMD0/s1600-h/126kilim+rug.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 227px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ee9S8jWQvFCxYvSktOE76sEWuEZ2EAu6kbSyI_09LrZNL7ZoKXK6NPIuONoTd7ZjgSYu6y29nmwpEi_9s29HoUebhjz6eAL-2cROQJbRvm57b1wa6YSCAGnE0prMZCqqZyT-AaeYMD0/s320/126kilim+rug.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371648417485811634" /></a>Last Friday we went to Sharjah, to Blue Souq to get some puffs, but we ended up with buying our first kilim rug (pictured). It originates from Iranian place called Somak. I don't know if you like to haggle or not, but I can assure you that's a lot of fun. Don't rush, take your time, accept tea and browse a lot of carpets first - it's a part of the "haggling game". The sellers at Sheba Store weren't pushy which I liked, and we all had a good laugh every time when I was lowering down the price until we reached an agreement. So, at the end: if you feel that the price is right for you, buy it!Magda Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16891981835373419967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5976306768274863758.post-18614889976324395462009-08-18T23:29:00.003+04:002009-08-18T23:34:36.021+04:00Dubai T-shirt<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL1Kcoj8JOOcWae0ejpSA15PKewzl5Yjp6XjbQxshhoj75i0a56yPoqoCxPg8FYj4NEfALHhmWaZtSuoMd9896E2lES9zgV8B-VM_jbstYF2CY0lOmgWlh1qh_Ivpd8do6G2oImiBxY04/s1600-h/125Dubai+tee.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL1Kcoj8JOOcWae0ejpSA15PKewzl5Yjp6XjbQxshhoj75i0a56yPoqoCxPg8FYj4NEfALHhmWaZtSuoMd9896E2lES9zgV8B-VM_jbstYF2CY0lOmgWlh1qh_Ivpd8do6G2oImiBxY04/s320/125Dubai+tee.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371388553224689442" /></a>Cheap, definitely from Dubai and for everyone - Dubai tee.
